Dr. Francis Matete
Dr. Francis Matete is a consultant psychiatrist with more than 30 years of experience working in Kenya, New Zealand and the U.K.
He graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree in 1976 and subsequently obtained membership of The Royal College of Psychiatrists in London in 1983.
Upon returning to Kenya in 1983 he joined the civil service and worked as the Provincial Psychiatrist for Nyanza region until 1988 when he was appointed assistant Director of Medical Services, a senior government position within the Ministry of Health.
In 2001 he relocated to New Zealand and practiced as consultant psychiatrist and clinical supervisor for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, a post he held for thirteen years.
Early 2014 Dr. Matete returned to Kenya and established The Kilimani Hospital where he now serves as its Clinical Director.
